M.S. 254 OST After School Program
OUT-OF-SCHOOL TIME
-
The DYCD out of school time (OST) Programs for youth is the largest after school initiative in the nations. OST describes the major part of a young person’s life that place outside of the school classroom-after school, on weekends, and during school vacations. This free time is optimal for developing a young person’s social, emotional and academic capabilities. It also represents a time when many young people are without a parental supervision and need to be in a safe and supportive environment. As more and more parent enter the workforce, the City of New York is looking to expand quality OST services to support, sports and recreational activities, the arts and cultural experiences. OST programs not only build upon the school day lessons, but they also open up new worlds and opportunities for youth.
